Privacy notice – GAIOS backup
What GAIOS backup is
GAIOS backup is an internal tool operated by GoldNet Engineering Group Pty Ltd ("GoldNet"). It stores encrypted backups of GoldNet's own computer systems in a Google Drive account that belongs to GoldNet's director. It is not offered to the public, and only accounts that GoldNet authorises can use it.
What Google data the tool can access
The tool asks Google for one permission: access to Google Drive files that it creates itself (the drive.file scope). It cannot see, open or change any other files, emails, photos or contacts in the Google account.
How the data is used
- The tool creates folders and files in the account holder's Google Drive, reads them back to restore or verify backups, and removes backup files it created when they pass their retention period.
- Backup contents are encrypted on GoldNet's own server before they are uploaded. Google stores only the encrypted data.
- No Google user data is sold, shared with third parties, used for advertising, or used to train artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models.
Google API Services User Data Policy
GAIOS backup's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Storage and retention
Backups stay in the account holder's own Google Drive. The authorisation token that lets the tool reach Drive is stored only on GoldNet's server, in a file readable only by its administrator account. Backups are kept on a rolling schedule of up to two years, after which the tool deletes them.
Removing access
The account holder can withdraw the tool's access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Files the tool created remain in Drive until the account holder deletes them.
